Knitters enjoy the warm weather while displaying their work...

The Community Dinner on Saturday evening, June 4th, was held at the Tap Inn at Wintonbury Hills Golf Course...and thanks in no small part to General Manager Ciaran Carr, the evening was a huge success with awesome food, music...and very special guest - Bloomfield's own Anika Noni Rose...The actress/singer graduated from Bloomfield High in 1990 and has had great success in film and television ever since...Above: Abigail Croteau and daughter manned the registration table for the evening...

Music was in part provided by members of the Bloomfield High School choir under the direction of Aubree Bowman (far right)...

The crowd thanked the staff at the Tap Inn for an awesome job!!!

The girls from the BHS Choir posed with Anika...Something they are likely to remember for a long time to come!!

Raffle time - a number of Celebrate Bloomfield 2016 T-shirts were raffled off!

BHS Class of 1972 Howard Greenberg - a past Bloomfield resident - managed to win one as well...

...as friend Tom Gostyla gives an assist.

Several participants in the Author's Showcase presented copies of their works to Anika...

Posing on the green, a lovely 10-year old, celebrating her birthday, got to meet Anika as a complete surprise...She loves the character Tiana, voiced by Anika in Disney's The Princess and the Frog and was totally ecstatic to meet her favorite actress!

Above: Anika speaks to the entire student body at Bloomfield High School upon her arrival on Friday, June 3rd. She graciously took questions from the audience after an inspiring talk, moved to the band room for endless "selfies" and even sang acapella to a handicapped girl in a wheelchair - who knew the words to a song in Dreamgirls - a film in which Anika had a major part!

Here she speaks with Board of Education Chairperson Don Harris, Jr. - who knew her as a student during her days at BHS...

Above: Take Two plays for the crowd at Sacred Heart Church's Community Give-back day on Friday evening, June 3rd. The weather cleared and the food was awesome. A number of community non-profits showcased their work as well...The band graciously played at the last minute when The Wilcox Brothers cancelled!
